Who has the right to appoint the heads for FSSAI?

  • The Department of FSSAI R&D is tasked with all the research and developmental processes associated with the food safety regulatory mechanism. Registrations under FSSAI are of three types FSSAI Basic registration- For annual turnover below Rs.12 lakhs can apply FSSAI State license-For annual turnover in the range of Rs.12lakh -20 crores need to apply for State level License. FSSAI Central license -For annual turnover above Rs.20 crores, apply for Central Level License.
Using FSSAI website , Form A is filled and payment can be made. After payment, Form B has to be filed along with multiple declarations and resolutions such as Board resolution, No Objection Certificate by landowner to establish the identity of business. On submission of application with documents, a code is generated for provisional registration which is to be used for future interactions. The application is then reviewed by the department and takes around 30 to 40 days before the receipt of license number.
Validity of FISSAI license is for one to five years Renewal of the license has to be done within 30 days before expiry .
The license can be renewed 30 days before the expiry of original license. Documents required is current license number to re-file the Form A and form B for renewal of the application / license. It takes 30-40days for renewal of the license. Fee for renewal is same as that for new issue of license.
