Introduction


At present, the whole world is strongly affected by the outbreak of coronavirus ailment, also known as COVID-19. The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 worldwide has reached a terrible state. Many countries are now seeing a deadlock due to the intensity of the infection.


In the wake of the coronavirus epidemic, ESIC has now extended the due date for payment of ESI contributions.


Why is the payment due date extended for ESI contribution?


As we all know that nowadays, the name of the dreaded disease like Coronavirus is on everyone's tongue. Also known as covid-19 due to which there is a lot of trouble in business and economy, due to this epidemic, people are not able to do their business and work, due to which money transactions are also decreasing. Due to which our economy and market have declined, due to which ESI registered employer is unable to pay it on time, therefore, the due date for ESI payment has been extended from April 2020 to May 2020.


What is the extension of the payment period of ESI?


The Indian economy has been badly affected by the rapid spread of epidemics like coronavirus, which has affected trade in large quantities.

Keeping in mind the effect of COVID-19, the Director-General of ESIC has now relaxed the norms of the ESI (General) Regulations, 1950. As a result, ESI's contribution for February 2020 and March 2020 will now is made by 15 April 2020 and 15 May 2020 respectively.


This is virtually a big relief for entrepreneurs with ESIC registration.


What were the prior due dates for ESIC payment for the month of February and March?


  • The prior due dates for ESI contribution payment of February 2020 was 15th March 2020 and of March 2020 was 15th April 2020.
  • But now, the due dates for ESI contribution payment of February 2020 is 15th April 2020 and of March 2020 are 15th May 2020.
