The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is the body that oversees and regulates the food industry in India. The FSSAI ensures that food items are inspected for consistency, preventing food adulteration and the selling of substandard goods. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) registers and licences food business operators in India and establishes rules and regulations for operating a food business in the country.
Any food business operator involved in the manufacturing, refining, storage, distribution, and selling of food products must obtain an FSSAI Registration Online/License.

Registration Types:
  1. Basic License- The food operator must register with Registration Form A if the annual turnover of the company is less than 12 lakhs. Food business operators such as petty food producers, small manufacturers, storage facilities, transporters, dealers, advertisers, distributors, and others must register with the FSSAI. The state government, on the other hand, issues FSSAI registrations. This licence has a limit of 5 years and a minimum of 1 year.
  2. State License- If the annual turnover of the company is between 12 lakhs and 20 crores, the food business operator must apply for a state licence Form B. An FSSAI State License is necessary for small to medium-sized food producers, storage facilities, transporters, dealers, advertisers, and distributors, for example. The state government issues the licence, and it is critical that you only conduct business in that state. A five-year term is required, with a one-year minimum.
  3. Central License- The food business operator must apply for a central licence Form B if the annual turnover of the business exceeds 20 crores. Importers, 100 percent export-oriented units, major producers, and operators in Central Government Agencies, Airports, and Seaports, on the other hand, must obtain a central food licence. The Central Government issues the central authorization. FBOs must also obtain a central licence for their head office, as well as a multi-state licence if they have operations in more than one state. This licence has a maximum term of 5 years and a minimum term of 1 year.
