Proprietorship is considered the same as Limited Liability Partnership and normal companies that are registered in India under income tax. Due to this, it requires filling of income tax returns in a similar way. This is similar to a proprietor filing tax returns.

The following table shows the taxation of proprietorship

Due Date

There are 2 different due dates for 2 different situations. Lets us go through both of them.

1. Proprietorship which requires audit as per Income tax act
Date- 30th September

2. Proprietor which doesn’t require audit as per Income tax act
Date- 31st July

Which ITR proprietorship firm has to file?

Form ITR-3 or form ITR-4 shall be filled by the proprietorship firms.
A proprietor/HUF who is carrying out a business or a profession can file form ITR-3. One who pays income tax under a presumptive taxation scheme (implemented with an intention to provide ease to the small business under compliance by setting a fixed profit margin on the total income) can file Form ITR-4
